I started watching Tik Tok in early 2019 after seeing an ad on Facebook. It started out that I just needed to laugh and to "meet" people that were like-minded. I started watching because I was in a bad place. I needed to believe that there was still good in the world despite the feeling that my life was changing in ways that I wasn't prepared for.
My husband returned to a career in law enforcement, my son just graduated high school, and my in-laws moved down south. All my constants were changing and I needed to learn how to just be myself and for 18 years, I didn't know I was anyone other than Mom. Then 2020 hit and everything changed again. E left for the military, I was furloughed from my job for 6 months, and depressed like I have never been in my life.
Music has always been healing for me and I have found some really great songs on Tik Tok. It amazes me that some are older songs that I have never heard before, but touch me. So here is my playlist that Tik Tok Made me download.
Rise Up- Andra Day
Lonely- Justin Bieber
You Should be Sad- Halsey
You Broke Me First- Tate McRae
Villain- Lily Rose
Before You Go- Lewis Capaldi
Mr. Red White and Blue- Coffey Anderson
Leaving my depression these songs still bring out memories or feelings in me that help me work past what I struggled with. Music heals because lyrics are written because of experience. What song speaks to your experience?
